Did you know that the pH of your body has a direct impact on your bones?
Believe it or not, when your body is too acidic, it starts to leach calcium from your bones in order to neutralize the acid. This can lead to weak and brittle bones, and makes it much more likely that you will suffer from osteoporosis as you age. In this blog post, we will discuss the link between pH and bone health, and why an alkaline diet is so important for keeping your bones strong!
The human body is designed to maintain a pH balance of around seven – which is slightly alkaline. However, the modern diet is full of acid-forming foods like sugar, refined carbs, meat, and dairy. This can lead to a build-up of acid in the body, and over time this can have a negative impact on your health.
There are two main types of osteoporosis: primary and secondary. Primary osteoporosis is most common in older women, and is usually caused by a lack of oestrogen.
Secondary osteoporosis can be caused by a number of different factors, including an acidic diet.
When your body is too acidic, it starts to leach calcium from your bones in order to neutralize the acid. This can lead to weak and brittle bones, and makes it much more likely that you will suffer from osteoporosis as you age. In addition, an acidic diet can also lead to inflammation throughout the body, which has been linked to a number of chronic diseases.
The good news..
.. is that you can help to prevent osteoporosis by eating a more alkaline diet. This means cutting out acid-forming foods like sugar, refined carbs, meat, and dairy, and replacing them with alkalizing foods like fruits and vegetables. By doing this, you will help to keep your body in balance and reduce your risk of developing osteoporosis.
So, if you are concerned about your bone health, make sure to include plenty of alkalizing foods in your diet! Fruits and vegetables are not only great for your bones, but they are also packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that can help to improve your overall health. So eat up – your bones will thank you!
Alternatively, if getting enough fruit and vegetables is too hard for your busy lifestyle, you can use a mix of the essential alkaline minerals in an easily digested form. A flat teaspoon a day will give you all you need.
